Undergraduate Admissions Guide for International Students of Harbin Normal University
I. Admission Requirements

Note: If both or one of the parents are Chinese citizens and reside abroad, and the applicant acquired foreign nationality at birth, or if residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan have immigrated and obtained foreign nationality, and are applying as international students for undergraduate programs in China, they must hold a valid foreign passport or proof of nationality for at least four years, and have records of actually residing abroad for at least two years within the most recent four years (residing abroad for nine months or more in a single year may be counted as one full year, based on entry and exit stamps). If the applicant was born in China, a document issued by a government authority certifying that the applicant has held foreign nationality for more than four years must be submitted.
II. China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)
All international students applying for undergraduate programs at our university (including scholarship and self-funded students) must provide a valid China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) transcript. Applicants who do not submit the transcript will not be eligible to apply or be admitted to undergraduate programs. The CSCA result is one of the key criteria for undergraduate admission.
1. Examination Subjects
o Compulsory: Professional Chinese, Mathematics
o Elective: Physics, Chemistry
2. Elective and Exemption Rules
o Applicants for Chinese Language programs: Exemption from Professional Chinese is allowed if a valid HSK Level 4 or above certificate is provided.
o Applicants for Science, Engineering, Agriculture, or Medical programs: At least one of Physics or Chemistry must be chosen.
3. Registration and Examination Schedule
o Registration Website: www.csca.cn (Applicants must register and sign up for the exam themselves)
o Exam Frequency: Held five times a year, usually in January, March, April, June, and December
o Applicants should pay attention to exam announcements in advance and plan their registration and exam schedule accordingly.
